UVA Opens State-of-the-Art Olympic Sports Facility

The University of Virginia recently celebrated the grand opening of the Harrison Family Olympic Sports Center, a new 95,000-square-foot facility designed to support the university’s Olympic sports programs. The building was made possible by a lead gift of $25 million from the Harrison family, longtime supporters of UVA.

The new center is attached to the McCue Center and provides modern amenities for several teams, including men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse, and track and field. The four-floor building features new locker rooms and lounges, a spacious 12,000-square-foot strength and conditioning area, a sports medicine and hydrotherapy space, and dedicated academic support areas.

Student-athletes and coaches expressed immense gratitude for the new building, with UVA Athletics Director Carla Williams noting that their joyful reactions were a powerful reminder of the university’s mission to serve its students. The new facility is expected to be a significant asset for recruitment and will greatly enhance the student-athlete experience for years to come.
