Acadiana Christian Student-Athlete in the Running for National Honor, $25K Scholarship

A high school student from New Iberia has a shot at winning a national title, a significant scholarship, and a feature in a major magazine. Jaxon Olivier, a senior at Acadiana Christian School, is a top five finalist for former Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson’s 3BRAND Youth Athlete of the Year award.
Olivier is a standout on the football field and the baseball diamond, playing multiple positions in both sports. He started playing T-ball at age three and picked up football at six. His dedication to both sports is what the competition, founded by Russell Wilson, aims to highlight in promising young athletes.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Olivier maintains a 3.7 GPA. He told reporters, “I just continue focusing on my studies.”
Olivier’s mother, Marilyn, said a cousin submitted his name for the contest. Jaxon has already advanced past the top 20, 15, and 10 to land in the top five. As a single mother, Marilyn says the experience is very emotional.
His head coach, Carroll Olivier, praised Jaxon’s character, calling him a “solid leader and a God-fearing young man.” He added that Jaxon’s achievements are especially meaningful because athletes from their area “don’t get seen much out here.”
The winner of the competition will receive $25,000 and be featured in Sports Illustrated.
