Giving Athletes a Voice: NCAA and Teamworks Partner on New Survey Platform

The NCAA is teaming up with Teamworks in a new three-year agreement to launch a survey platform designed to give student-athletes a stronger voice. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to use student feedback to shape decisions that impact the personal, academic, and athletic development of college athletes.
Faster Feedback for Better Decisions
This new system will streamline the survey process, allowing the NCAA to collect and analyze student-athlete perspectives with unprecedented speed. According to Lydia Bell, the NCAA’s director of research and policy, these new, short surveys will take only three to five minutes to complete. The turnaround from concept to completion will be just four to six weeks, a dramatic improvement over the previous comprehensive surveys, which took 12 to 15 months to finalize.
The surveys, which will be distributed through the Teamworks app four to six times a year, will cover topics related to the student-athlete experience, ranging from well-being to performance technology. Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be anonymous.
This initiative aligns with the NCAA’s recent push to increase student-athlete representation in governance. By using the Teamworks platform, the NCAA can ensure that the voices of athletes are directly informing decisions made by committees and national office leadership.
Initially, the program will be available to Division I schools, with a potential expansion to Divisions II and III in the coming years. The first survey is scheduled to launch on September 30, focusing on the use of performance technology and other well-being issues. This partnership represents a significant step toward a more responsive and athlete-centric approach to decision-making in college sports.
