Herd Academics: Marshall Athletes Earn 286 Sun Belt Conference Honors

Marshall University student-athletes are proving they are just as dedicated in the classroom as they are in competition. The Sun Belt Conference recently announced its academic awards for the 2024-25 school year, and Marshall athletes earned an impressive 286 honors.
Top of the Class
- Three Marshall teams led the entire Sun Belt Conference with the highest team GPA in their respective sports:
- Women’s Golf with a 3.94 GPA.
- Women’s Swim & Dive with a 3.74 GPA.
- Men’s Basketball with a 3.22 GPA.
More Than Just Grades
Marshall also had 19 student-athletes receive the 1A FAR Academic Award, which recognizes students who have earned their bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.8 or higher while competing for at least two years at an FBS school. This accomplishment tied Marshall with Old Dominion for the most in the conference.
These achievements highlight Marshall’s commitment to creating well-rounded student-athletes who excel in all aspects of their lives. “They continue to make extraordinary strides in the classroom and remain competitive within the conference,” said Kaylyn Torain, Marshall’s Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services.
