Newly Launched College Sports Commission Clears $80 Million in NIL Deals

The new College Sports Commission (CSC) has approved nearly $80 million in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, according to its first official report. The commission, established to oversee NIL contracts as part of the new system, announced that over 8,300 deals have been cleared for college athletes.
New System and Deal Flow
The report, which covers activity from June 11 to August 31, 2025, provides the first comprehensive look at how the new NIL landscape is functioning. The NIL Go platform, which is in charge of reviewing all contracts worth $600 or more, has seen significant activity, with over 28,300 students and nearly 3,200 agents or “representatives” signing up.
According to Bryan Seeley, CEO of the commission, the initial report confirms the system is “working as intended.” The data shows a high approval rate for deals, though the commission did note that 332 deals had not been cleared due to issues such as:
- Delays in providing required information.
- Contradictory deal terms.
- Failure to satisfy the “valid business purpose” requirement, which ensures the deal is a legitimate business transaction and not disguised as “pay-for-play.”
The deals approved so far have ranged in value, with the largest topping out at $1.8 million. The CSC plans to release updated reports on a regular basis to provide ongoing transparency for student-athletes and the public.
