Why don't messages appear in my inbox immediately?

Scout’s inbox is not a real-time messaging tool. New messages that you see on LinkedIn may take a few hours to appear in Scout’s inbox. Additionally, messages sent during your non-working hours will not appear in the inbox until the next time Scout checks for new updates. Here’s why:

At first, let’s understand how Scout works. Scout is an automation tool that handles the repetitive tasks for you, such as sending connection requests and follow-up messages. This saves you time so you can focus on meaningful conversations with hiring managers who have replied to you. However, LinkedIn doesn’t like automation AI tools, so they set limits on the number of connections, messages, profile views, likes, etc. If these limits are exceeded, LinkedIn might send you a warning or temporarily restrict your account.

At Scout, we respect LinkedIn’s rules and do not support spammy behavior. This is why we have a warm-up period and daily limits for messages, including messages in Scout inbox. The inbox is updated periodically, meaning the system goes to LinkedIn to fetch your new messages. To keep your account safe, we send Scout to gather new messages at regular intervals. This is why new messages might not appear instantly when they’re sent.

Scout’s inbox does not reflect real-time messaging—it’s designed to work with campaigns and help manage contacts systematically. Here’s what Scout’s inbox can do that LinkedIn Messenger can’t:

  1. Tagging contacts
You can add tags to any target contact, such as “interested” or “send a follow up later.” You can then filter your messages by these tags to group contacts in a similar stage in your job search cycle, like “interviewing next month,” or “asked me to stay in touch.”

  2. Campaign filtering
You can filter all your messages by campaign, allowing you to see the exact results of each campaign you’ve launched.

  3. Notes for conversations
Leave notes for each conversation for your reference. This keeps your outreach organized.

  4. Multi-account management
If you use several LinkedIn accounts, you can view all your messages in one place—no need to log in and out of multiple LinkedIn profiles.

Contact Look-Ups

Unlock verified email and LinkedIn info for your target contacts so you can reach out directly. Each time you unlock a person’s contact information (email, LinkedIn, and more), it counts as a contact look-up. Your plan includes a set number of credits to use toward these look-ups.
